Acne is a skin condition which affects around eighty percent of teenagers to some degree. It usually appears during puberty and can continue well into adulthood, although this depends on the individual.
Despite it being so widespread, there isn't a definitive cause of acne and so far we haven't discovered a universally effective cure. Saying that though, we do know what contributes to an outbreak of acne and there are treatments available.
So, what exactly is acne? Basically acne is a disease which causes spots and redness on the skin, most often on the face, neck, chest and back.
